Our journey with Karla began as a simple friendship. One day while discussing her plans for the future, she disclosed to us that she applied to university the year before, but could not complete the process because it cost $30. A whole year without moving forward toward her goals because of $30. At that point, we began exploring possibilities with her and decided to help her with her dream of becoming a physical therapist. Karla is the inspiration that started Advance Panama. Karla is about to enter her third year and is called the “guerrera” by her classmates, which means warrior. Despite being the only student that did not graduate from a wealthy private high school or grow up in the city, she is in the top of her class and a respected leader.  We are very proud of her!
